Diesel average falls at a slower rate for the week of December 16

A week after a decline of more than two cents, the national average price per gallon of diesel gasoline fell again but not to the same extent, for the week of December 16, according to data issued by the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA).

With a 0.003-cent decline, the national average is now $3.046 per gallon, following a 2.1-cent decline the week of December 9.

That decline was preceded by a 0.004-cent increase for the week ending December 2 to $3.070, a 0.008-cent decrease for the week ending November 25 to $3.066, and a 0.001-cent increase for the week ending November 18 to $3.074.

On an annual basis, this week’s average is down 7.5 cents, which is an improvement over last week’s 11.2-cent annual spread.

West Texas Intermediate crude oil is currently trading at $60.55 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
