The ATA’s advanced Seasonally Adjusted (SA) For-Hire Truck Tonnage Index, for January, at 115.5 (2015=100), saw a 0.6% increase, following a 0.9% December gain.

January’s reading—at 229—was off 3% compared to December, but it still represented the highest-ever TVI reading in January, while posting a 15% annual increase. DAT said that the number of loads posted to the DAT One load board network saw a 34.7% increase, from December to January, and were up 104.7% annually.

Total January volume—at 1,385,613—decreased 13.3% annually. Trailers—at 91,135—were down 13.7% compared to January 2021, and domestic containers—at 654,729—slipped 2.6%. All domestic equipment, which is comprised of trailers and domestic containers, were down 4.1%, to 745,864. ISO, or international, containers—at 639,749—fell sharply, down 22.1%.
GXO Logistics posts strong Q4 and calendar year 2021 earnings

GXO Logistics Inc. reported fourth quarter revenue came in at $2.3 billion, marking a 28% annual increase, when it was still part of XPO Logistics, for a new company high. Net income came in at $56 million and was up 10.8% annually, and operating income, at $63 million, was up 20.6%. Adjusted EBITDA also saw a new high, at $167 million, rising 12.6% annually. For calendar year 2021, revenue, at $7.9 billion, rose 21.5%, with operating income at $151 million.
Oracle introduces new capabilities for its Oracle Fusion Cloud SCM offering

Oracle officials said that the updates are for subsets in Oracle Fusion Cloud Global SCM—Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) and Oracle Global Trade Management (GTM)—and are geared towards helping shippers increase efficiency and value across their global supply chains, as well as reduce cost and risk, improve customer experience, and also become more adaptable to business disruptions.

Port Tracker report eyes lower volumes but still-steady import levels for 2022

For December, the most recent month for which data is available, import volume—at 2.09 million TEU (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units)—was off 1.2% compared to November and was down 1% annually. May 2021 remains the all-time highest-volume month, at 2.33 million TEU). And for calendar year 2021, imports came in at 25.8 million TEU, for a 17.4% annual increase, setting a new record and breaking the previous record, of 22 million TEU, set in 2020 against the backdrop of the pandemic.
