Total retail sales—at $528.1 billion—were down 0.5% compared to January’s $530.9 billion, which was revised, and were up 4.3% compared to February 2019. Commerce said that total retail sales, from December 2019 through February 2020, rose 4.9% compared to the same period a year ago.

Commerce reported that January retail sales—at $529.8 billion—were 0.2% ahead of December’s revised $528.4 billion and were up 0.3% annually. NRF reported that January retail sales rose 0.2% on a seasonally adjusted basis over December and were up 2.7% unadjusted on an annual basis.

Commerce reported that November retail sales, at $528 billion, rose 0.2% over October and were up 3.3% compared to November 2018. NRF reported that retail sales were up 0.1% from October to November on a seasonally adjusted basis and up 2.1% on an unadjusted basis.

NRF said it expects holiday retail sales to rise between 3.8%-to-4.2% to between $727.9 billion and $730.7 billion. Salesforce said it expects U.S. digital commerce revenue growth to rise 13% annually this year, with total sales pegged to hit $136 billion in the U.S. and $768 billion globally.

Commerce reported that June retail sales, at $519.9 billion, were up 0.4% compared to May and up 3.4% compared to June 2018, and the National Retail Federation reported that June retail sales were up 0.6% in June on a seasonally-adjusted basis compared to May, and up 2.3% annually on an unadjusted basis.

Commerce reported that October retail sales, at $511.5 billion, were up 0.8% compared to September, with a 4.6% increase compared to October 2017. Retail trade sales were up 0.9% compared to September and up 4.3% annually, and non-store retailers, which include e-commerce sales, rose 12.1%. NRF reported that October retail sales increased 0.4% compared to September, with a 5.6% annual increase on an unadjusted basis.

United States retail sales for the month of September posted slight sequential gains, the annual gains coming in higher, according to data issued today by the United States Department of Commerce and the National Retail Federation (NRF).
