Hurricane Idalia Carrier Update


As Hurricane Idalia hits landfall in various parts of coastal Florida, safety is paramount for everyone, of course. That said, Logistics Management has provided an overview below of what is happening with various freight transportation carriers, providers and ports. The statements below are directly from company web sites to keep you informed in a brief and concise manner. Please be careful out there for the next few days.

ABF:The company has closed down multiple Florida-based service centers, with a complete list available here.https://arcb.com/resources/service-advisories

FedEx:“Hurricane Idalia is causing hazardous conditions across portions of Florida. Our top priority is the safety and well-being of our team members, as well as providing you with the highest level of service. Delays and disruptions can be expected for inbound and outbound shipments starting Wednesday, August 30 in impacted areas. We are committed to providing service to the best of our ability in areas that can be safely accessed.

UPS: “UPS services in the southern part of the U.S., including Florida and other areas, may be impacted by Hurricane Idalia. While most UPS facilities are providing pickup and delivery services as conditions permit, some delays are possible.”

We will work to ensure the safety of our employees while minimizing effects on service. Contingency plans are in place to help ensure that shipments arrive at their final destinations as quickly as possible.”

CSX:“We will continue to track the storm as it evolves, and will issue further notifications as warranted. Please monitor our Customer Advisories and the Intermodal-specific Real-Time Service Advisories for information on potential impacts.”

Old Dominion Freight Line:“Old Dominion continues to monitor the progress of Hurricane Idalia and its impact on operations in Florida. Please be advised that the hurricane has the potential to create service delays or interruptions.For real-time updates, visit ODFL’s operational map.”

Ports of Savannah and Brunswick:“All terminals (Garden City; Ocean Terminal) are open and working today until 1200 hrs at which time GPA gates will close for safety reasons. ALL inbound gates will close to inbound traffic at 1100 hrs this morning for pickup or dual moves. This includes all dray and reefer ingate transactions for Garden City Terminal and Ocean Terminal.”For more information, please click here.

Jacksonville Port Authority:The U.S. Coast Guard Captain of the Port for Sector Jacksonville set Hurricane Port Condition ZULU for the Port of Jacksonville effective 8 p.m. yesterday, Tuesday, August 29. JAXPORT is closed through today, Wednesday, August 30. The port anticipates reopening tomorrow, Thursday, August 31, pending storm impacts and once federal reopening safety protocols are completed.”For more information, please click here.
