DHL expands in Las Vegas, with relocation into a new facility

Global express delivery and logistics services providerDHLrecently announced it is moving to a new facility in Las Vegas, with an $11.1 million investment, and relocating to what it called a larger and more conveniently located service center facility.

A company spokesman toldLMthat this relocation was a great opportunity to move DHL’s Las Vegas operation to a significantly larger facility to handle the growing pickup and delivery volumes from customers in the greater Las Vegas area. The spokesman added that this project has been in the works for over a year, with the planning and vetting process going all the way back to the fourth quarter 2021.

DHL said that the new facility is located at 5280 W Badura, Suite 100, which is in close proximity to Las Vegas’ main south artery. And it added that the facility is comprised of new state-of-the-art sorting equipment and almost 47,000 square-feet of combined warehouse and office space. What’s more, the facility is 27% larger than the company's previous location at 3655 W Sunset Rd, Ste E. The increased size enables the DHL Las Vegas operation to increase capacity and improve first-stop delivery times for international services by at least 30 minutes in the local market.

“As the Las Vegas market grows, DHL is committed to growing with it and providing our customers the highest, most efficient level of service,” saidAaron Jones, VP and GM, Mountain/Southwest Area for DHL Express U.S., in a statement. “Las Vegas has been an extremely active market for DHL, and our investment in this new larger, strategically located, and advanced facility will allow us to handle the increased volume with ease.”

From a staffing and service perspective, DHL said that, in addition to greater Las Vegas, this facility also serves parts of Utah and Arizona, with 50 dedicated couriers and operational staffers. And this facility also handles U.S. domestic and time-definite international shipments to and from the 220 countries and territories the company serves, coupled with a convenient ServicePoint for customers to drop off and pick up shipments locally.

“DHL can now provide earlier delivery services in Downtown Las Vegas, which is where we have the greatest concentration of our international shipping customers,” said the DHL spokesman.

It also has an advanced material handling system capable of processing up to 3,000 pieces per hour and also 65 positions for vehicles to load and unload shipments around its conveyable sort system.

在可持续发展方面,DHL said that the Las Vegas facility was built with sustainable materials and has electric vehicle charging infrastructure equipment, with an objective to operate locally with 100% electric vehicles within the next year, in line with parent company Deutsche Post DHL Group's sustainability roadmap, which aims to have 60% of its global delivery fleet powered by electricity by 2030.
