National diesel average is up for the third time in four weeks, reports EIA


The national average price per gallon of diesel gasoline headed up for the third time in four weeks, according to data issued this week by the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA).

Rising $0.007-cents, this week’s national average comes in at $2.403, following a $0.10-cent gain to $2.386 the week of June 8 0.004-cent decline to $2.386 per gallon, for the week ending June 1, and a 0.004-cent increase to $2.390 per gallon, for the week ending May 25. Prior to the week ending May 25, the national diesel average had been down for 19 consecutive weeks, dropping 69 cents over that period.

The national diesel average has been below the $3 per gallon mark since the week ending February 2, when it posted an average of $2.956.

On an annual basis, this week’s diesel average is down 66.7 cents, which trails the 70.9-cent and 75.0-cent annual spreads, from the week ending June 8 and June 1, respectively.
