天皇物流(展位1520)展示了其crates, a reusable metal pallet alternative offered in both standard and custom sizes at a booth visit with Modern on Wednesday.

According to Rick Franklin, corporate director of operations for Komyo, the standard sizes are designed to fill the cube of both standard North American trailers and standard international ocean containers. Seven crates can collapse to take the space of one, said Franklin, and they can serve as portable storage and racking.

“Honda of America, our customer for the last nine years, started stacking these crates seven high, putting bar codes on them and picking from them,” said Franklin. “It was yet another unique use for the crates that improves our customers’ flexibility.”

The crates can be bought outright or returned to Komyo for service, said Franklin, who said the added security, product protection, and crate durability lead to significant savings and improved customer satisfaction.

Modex 2012 is scheduled to be held February 6-9, 2012 in Atlanta’s Georgia World Congress Center. The tradeshow will showcase the latest manufacturing, distribution and supply chain solutions in the material handling and logistics industry.Modern’s complete Modex 2012 coverage.
