National diesel average heads up more than 5 cents, to $2.383 per gallon, reports EIA


The national average price per gallon, for diesel gasoline, headed up for only the third time in the last 10 weeks, for the week ending November 16, according to data issued this week by the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA).

Increasing 5.8 cents, this week’s national average came in at $2.441, following a 1.1-cent gain, to $2.383, for the week ending November 9 and a 0.013-cent decline, to $2.372 per gallon, for the week of November 2 and a 0.003-cent decline, for the week of October 26, which came in at $2.385 per gallon and a 0.007-cent decline, to $2.388 per gallon, for the week of October 19.

The national average has been below the $3 per gallon mark since the week of February 2, when it posted an average of $2.956.

On an annual basis, this week’s national average is down 63.3 cents, less than the matching 69-cent annual declines, for the weeks ending November 9 and November 2, respectively.

West Texas Intermediate Crude is currently trading at $41.10 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
