Seasonally-adjusted (SA) for-hire truck tonnage in January at 138.8 (2000=100) was up 2.9 percent compared to December and up 2.6 percent annually. The annual gain was ahead of a 0.2 percent annual December decline, and the January SA was down 8.9 percent compared to February 2016’s all-time high of 142.7.

This follows a 3.5 percent annual gain in December, a 0.3 November decline, and a 2.7 percent gain in October, which marked the first time it headed up in the previous 20 months.
