Capital Express and ADL Delivery partner up for final mile delivery platform initiative

Earlier this week, two regional final mile delivery service providers—Capital Express, an Omaha-based final mile delivery company, andADL Delivery,交付company-announ Tampa-based最后一英里ced they have partnered up to form a holding company, or platform, focused on building a national provider of customized and final mile logistics services.

Established in 1987, Capital Express provides courier, transportation, warehousing, and logistics services for hundreds of customers in various verticals, including pharmaceutical, and office products, among others. ADL Delivery was established in 1999 and specializes in business-to-business (B2B) delivery and fleet replacement for the automotive distributor industry and offers truckload deliveries,less-than-truckload (LTL)deliveries, pallet deliveries, and other final mile logistics services.

The Capital Express service delivery footprint spans the Midwest, from Kansas City up to North Dakota over to Minnesota, with ADL’s covering the Southeast.

The companies said this platform will be led under the direction of Capital Express Founder Monte O’Hara, whom will serve as Chief Executive Officer, and ADL Delivery Co-Owner Thomas Jowers, whom will serve as Chief Operating Officer. And they added that industry veterans John Benko and Randy Edmonds will serve as President and Chief Commercial Officer, respectively.

This new final mile platform has established a partnership with Atlanta-based private equity firm Red Dog Equity LLC, with Red Dog providing the platform with growth capital to fund future acquisitions. Tom Connolly, former senior vice president of acquisitions for XPO Logistics, is co-founder of Red Dog.

The impetus for this endeavor began with Red Dog working with Benko and Edmonds, as it mapped out logistics-focused investment opportunities.

“They [Benko and Edmonds] have been industry leaders and saw an opportunity in final mile logistics, with Capital Express and ADL, which is where they are, in the B2B and former courier world,” O’Hara toldLM. “We saw an opportunity with these two companies and have plans to grow more organically and through acquisition to build out a somewhat national B2B final mile network.”
